    Catalyst

    In the manufacture of phase transfer catalyst viz. Tetra Butyl Ammonium Bromide, Tetra Butyl Ammonium Hydroxide & Tri Butyl-n-Ethyl Ammonium Bromide. In situ catalyst in esterification reactions.

Storage

  • Can be safely stored for a long period in sealed drums in a well-ventilated, cold and dry area, free from direct sunlight. Should be stored away from naked flame.

Health & Safety

  • Tri-n-Butylamine is irritating to skin, eyes, and mucous membrane. In case of contact, the affected area should be washed with plenty of water at least for 15 minutes. A dilute solution of Acetic Acid (2%) should be used to neutralize the amine.
  • Continuous inhalation of fumes and ingestion should be avoided. In event of inhalation or ingestion, the victim should be moved to fresh air and oxygen should be administered. To dilute the chemical in the stomach, the patient should consume a copious quantity of milk and water. A medical practitioner should be consulted at once. Personal protective equipment should always be used while handling.
